Blue Card

Updated: Jan 4, 2022

Who can apply?

  • You have a German degree or a recognised higher education degree from a foreign country.

  • You already have a job contract for a position appropriate for someone with your qualifications (higher education degree).

  • Your Gross Annual Salary meets the specified BlueCard minimum requirements. (For 2021, a gross annual income of at least EUR 56,800 is the specified minimum. For employees in the fields of mathematics, IT, natural sciences, engineering and human medicine, the specified minimum is EUR 44304 . In such cases, the German Federal Employment Agency must approve your request for employment.)

If you meet the above requirements, make an appointment at the German Embassy for a Blue Card. If you do not meet any of the requirements, there is no cause for worry. You can still apply for a Work Permit.
